The Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, a short novel, a best-seller,  that ingeniously brings into light one of fiction’s most fascinating characters: the madwoman in the attic from Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre.  Called a "tour de force" by the NY Times when it was re-released in 2016 on its fiftieth anniversary. We'll watch the BBC drama at the meeting.  Should be great to finally figure out who that woman was!
