The Club was founded in 1889 by prominent Brooklyn residents excited about Brooklyn’s economic boom following the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge. Founding members includedCharles Pratt, Richard Schermerhorn, and Edwin C. Litchfield, and the architect of the 1891 landmark Park Slope building was Francis Kimball.
